Technology is useless without people there to use it…

These are lists of awesome apps I think every BlackBerry owner should download and install today. Most of them are free while some are premium apps. But I assure you that if they are making it to this list, then they are worth your money and your time.

Popcornflix basically offers free, full-length movies which you can stream directly on your BlackBerry. There are over 700 to choose from, and the service is completely free because it’s ad-supported. Films are categorized into genres, and new titles are being added daily.

Download this app to watch over 700 films instantly without any subscription or fees. You might not be able to find the latest blockbusters, but it’s worth a look for some decent movies.

Tools App: Gadget Box ($ 1.99)

Remember how we said that you should be wary of the number of apps you install on your smartphone? This is the tool that will help you do just that. Gadget Box turns your BlackBerry into a ton of useful tools, removing the need of a dozen apps for the same functionality.

It helps you enhance the functionality of your smartphone with a box of handy gadgets instead of installing different apps for different functionality.

It gives you a spirit level, compass, flashlight, speedometer, protractor, infinite ruler, Morse code generator, unit converter, and a height and distance estimation tool. It’s a handy set of tools for $2 and, while you may not use them every day, you’ll be glad they’re there when you do need one of them.

Camera App: 360 Panorama ($2.99)

While the built-in BlackBerry camera does have plenty of great functions that include HDR (10.1), multiple modes, scenes, and aspect ratios, there are still some things it just can’t do.  With 360 Panorama, you can easily capture immersive panoramas in seconds and instantly share your panoramas with the world.

Simply pan the camera and watch as images are stitched seamlessly. 360 Panorama captures the scene in a way you never could with a traditional BlackBerry camera.

Cloud Storage App: Box (free)

Even though it comes preinstalled with BlackBerry 10, this one still makes our list by just barely knocking out Dropbox for one reason – automatic uploads. When you make changes to a file that is saved to Box, the changes are synchronized to the cloud so that you can access the updated file from a computer or a mobile device.

Navigation App: BlackBerry Maps (free)

There are plenty of mapping apps available in BlackBerry World. Just type map in the search box in your BlackBerry World and you will be amazed at what you will see. But BlackBerry Maps still takes the lead for us when it comes to maps.

It’s had a bunch of updates since the initial release and with its turn-by-turn navigation, search features, and plenty of customizable options, it holds strong as our choice for the best navigation app for BlackBerry. With BlackBerry Maps, you can also save your favorite places and access and share them from other apps like BBM and SMS.

Stock App: Stocks ($2.99)

According to Robert Kiyosaki, lack of financial intelligence is the reason why the poor Dad is poor. Period. I don’t know if I am wrong but that is what I will say in one sentence about the book Rich Dad & Poor Dad.

Keeping that in mind, you may want to look into this app, Stocks. As one of our favorite built for BlackBerry apps, Stock is an amazing app for anyone who wants to keep track of their portfolio. The app lets you view news, over twenty exchanges, historical charts and much more. Simply track the Stock Market and your favorite list of stocks with this feature-rich application.

Twitter App: Blaq ($1.99)

If I want to use Twitter, why don’t I head over to BlackBerry World and download the official Twitter App? Well, don’t be too fast about that. I think you may be missing out a grand Twitter experience with your traditional Twitter App.

While the native Twitter app for BlackBerry 10 does work pretty well, Twitter power users want a bit more. In that regards, Blaq comes in handy. Blaq is a full-featured Twitter app with real-time streaming, mentions, direct messages, lists and plenty more. Twitter users should welcome Blaq with open arms.

You can select a subject you’re interested in and then connect related hashtags to create your own particle storm of interesting tweets.

There’s definitely a novelty element to it, but for Twitter power users, it could also serve as a useful big picture view. There has never been an easier way to visually interact with and sort thousands of Tweets, you’ll find it both informative and dangerously addictive.
