The brands being discussed today are true brand masters, they have created identities around their businesses and they have both created a legacy. In fact, using their product denotes how classy and savvy a person is.

Today we aren’t proving who is superior but we’d only like to assess different aspects of the brands and leave you to decide who you think stands as alpha.

A little bit about Nike

Nike is an American company that designs, develops, manufactures, markets and distributes footwear, apparel, equipment, accessories, and services. It was established in 1964 by University of Oregon Athlete Phil Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman; The Company started out as Blue Ribbon Sports and officially became Nike in 1971, being named after the mythical Greek goddess of victory.

Nike has penetrated and dominated the market through expertise advertisement and a top-notch marketing strategy; they feature sports stars and entertainment celebrities.

Nike is best identified with its swoosh logo and it has made it a simple and powerful object in the business world today.

Getting acquainted with Adidas

Adidas, on the other hand, is a German company that designs and manufactures shoes, clothing, and accessories. Adidas and Reebok are both brands managed by the Adidas Group. They have other brands that are more integrated into certain sports like skiing and ice hiking.

Adidas was founded in 1924 by Adolf Dassler and his brother Rudolf Dassler under the name Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory. It was later incorporated as Adidas in 1969. In 1949 there was a breakdown between the Dassler brothers and the elder brother; Rudolf on his own setup Puma, which has been Adidas’ major competition in Europe.

The business rivalry between both brothers has caused rifts between football clubs. Adidas has a 3 stripe logo which many know it for. In Nigeria today a whole lot of sportswear consumers don’t know Adidas only that wearing an item with that logo means you are wearing designers.

They have also released smart shoes in affiliation with Apple Inc, the smart shoes record basic body activities and stats.

Nike has also been instrumental in supplying street fashion wears, this is because attires like Tracksuits, shell suits, baseball caps and shoes (air max and air Jordan) are now widely worn as casual wears by youths globally.

Adidas dominates the sports space in Europe and so provides sports equipment and accessories for these sports; soccer, baseball, basketball, cricket, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, field and track athletics, skateboarding, tennis, and Kabaddi.

Adidas has dominated the world of soccer, cricket and Kabaddi. Nike has also produced accessories; watches, eyewear, bags, deodorants, aftershave, and lotions, etc. They also produce special slides and sandals worn for feet relaxation. Some of which are; Adilette, Santiossage, and Adissage which is the most worn globally.

Adidas apparels are also worn globally by youths as casual wears.

Both Nike and Adidas are major sponsors of sporting events and sports celebrities. Nike sponsors sports events like the Super bowl, universities sports festivals, Asian confederate football league and many others.

They also endorsed athletes like Micheal Jordan, Christiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Neymar, Mbappe, Didier Drogba, Harry Kane and Hazard among many others. It also sponsored clubs like Barcelonia, Liverpool and Manchester United,

Adidas being the Dominus in soccer has endorsed more soccer events like:
